   was leaving carpark in my mk1 vtr . as i put clutch in it jumped out of gear and have no drive. car was go into all gears but without crunching as if clutch was still enguaged but speedo will go up if i rev it in a gear. no sure if diff cup has pulled out, diff shit the bag or thrust bearing in clutch fuckered...
   
   any1 any ideas

   check the driveshaft hasnt snapped.
   could be clutch or bearing if not

   Check your gear linkages 1st mate i had same-ish problem, thought it was gearbox or diff but a link came out, simply pop it back in, 2mins job!
   if its not that them sorry pal, i have no idea

   no thats was 1st fing i checked was linkages and that clutch cable was still on. jacked car up there and had it in gear and spun 1 of the front wheels to see if the other would rotate in opposit direction but was nothing. but still not sure if that could still be down 2 clutch...

   have you checked cv joints as can break ,drive shaft may be turning and road wheels dont.

   cv joints are ok and diff cups havnt pulled out either

   fault with diff as speedo drive on diff.

   Sounds like the diff, you have lost output from diff to drive shafts, most likely cause is the crown wheel has slipped on the diff unit, my Dad has just rebuilt my gearbox, it had same problem, if you have means to do it, it is a straight forward job, if not replace the box.     cheers going to see another box 2nyt hopefully get her bought n throw her in 2 fuck. i take it but the powersteering pipe that runs over the top of gearbox that the box has to b brought out from below?

    stripped car there on sunday and turns ut the o/s drive shaft broke off in the diff.
