Dipstick and Parcel shelf question

   Two questions...
   
   Pulled my dipstick out yesterday (only bought car three days ago) and found that the dipstick plastic marker looks very short, almost like its snapped off. I am not at all intelligent about engines etc, but if the dipstick has snapped off, how much of a problem is this? i obviously need to go find another one from a scrap yard so i can check oil levels, but do i need to go about getting the other piece out of the engine... would i be able to tell if it was in there?
   
   Other question, does anyone have a standard parcel shelf, un modded, for a VTR phase 2, last owner left a SHIT pair of 6x9's in and they are rusty and completely fucked, plus i am not a fan of them sound wise and security wise.

   i had the same problem with my dipstick, apparently it just sits in the sump, nothing to worry about

   thats good to hear, was proper worrying about it, do you not think it could block one of the inlets or something like that? hoping it will just fall out with next oil check, if it hasnt already

   dont think so, from what i hear itll just come out with the next oil change. you never know, it could have been ages back, and already been flushed out the sump

   with the dip stick it wont do any harm will just sit in the bottom of the sump and i think i might have a mk2 shelfe will look soon

   have you looked on ebay for parcel shelf ? also dip stick don't worry about it just get another one

   any luck jigg with the parcel shelf? turns out the mk1 and mk2 parcel shelves are the same size... found one at the scrap yard but it also had speakers already in it, im looking for a plain one.
   
   dipstick though, that was interesting, couldnt find one that fitted my VTR, tried ones from 106's and a couple of saxo's, didnt look at models, but they weren't VTR's. Me being naive i guess to think that all engines in saxos would have same dip stick length???
   
   guy at yard said to try dealer, but i know thats going to be a waste of time, vauxhall tried to charge me 28 quid for a wiper arm for a corsa b lol!!!!

   Dipstick only about a tenner from citroen if i remember correctly.
   
   Dont worry about it, it will sit in bottom of the sump.

   oh, thats not tooooo bad i guess. last resort though, others were a pound at the scrap yard, will keep checking for VTR's, unless anyone else rights theres off, not that i would wish that on anyone, but if it happens, holla

    I had that happen on my first oil check. - Stayed in there forever.
    
    From Cit my new dipstick was about a fiver.
    
    And I have a mint black parcel shelf, but you'd have to pick it up.
