Dodgy Battery / Alternator?

This has been happening a fair bit recently, and just wanted some input as to what it might be.

Basically, when I'm slowing down to turn into a junction, and dropping to 2nd, occasionally the battery will cut out, and I'll get a red battery light, and an oil light, as well as a few others. I lose power steering, the blowers stop etc. however, once I press the accelerator again, everything fine and back to normal.
Then today, I stopped at a junction, and the car just cut out all together, (engine and everything, not just the battery), so I physically had to turn the key to get it going again, which took 2 attempts. Guessing it could be the battery, or the alternator? Anyone experienced anything similar?

    Jack.

i dont see it being the battery or alternator because the car starts up again after this has happened. normally if there is a fault with one of them it would flatten the battery and it wouldnt start up again. might just need a gud service

Cheers for the replys guys. Got it in for a full service on Friday, and made a point of telling them about the problem, so hopefully it should get sorted. Will post whatever they find here.

The alternator light is coming on because the engine speed (and therefore the alternator speed) is not enough to provide charge to the battery. This is confirmed because the engine stalls often as well. You have an issue with the idle control system. I am not familiar with the system used on your car but that is were your problem is.
