whirling noise help!

My saxo has a whirlling noise when im driving, seems to only happen when im pushing the accelerator. When i just coast without my foot on the accelerator its normal. Could this be the wheal bearing going or gearbox? the sound seems to be coming from passenger side only.
Also. very noticable only above about 3k rpm.

probably just the gearbox, mine whines. sounds sort of like a supercharger?
gets higher pitched the more you rev?

    if so its the gearbox.

Is it all doom and gloom if its the gear box whining? or is it ok to drive?

No, when its on nuetral it revs freely with no noise or even when moving off below 3k its not making a whirling noise. only at 3k revs whilst driving it becomes obvious.

Can anyone else confirm its (not) the gearbox?
  12. #12
Could it be a clutch release bearing?

gearbox my vts box does it.. bearings most probs. im not getting mine sorted for atleast another month or so.. been through 3 gearboxes in a few months now! i dont even drive like an idiot.

my VTR has just done 56k, surely the gearbox isnt knackered? are the bearings cheap to replace or do i have to do a complete overhaul with a new gearbox?

Could it also be the manual transmission fluid is low? How about do i go checking the gearbox oil levels?

Also, if it is the gearbox wouldnt the whirring sound be coming from directly under the gear knob area?
