Stripping out the furio

#2At a guess maybe 870kg? It really does depend how much you strip though.
-
#3thats the thing i don't know if anyones like properly weighed in there cars after doing so ? i mean if it could get down to like 870kg that would be awesome though , just worked out that standard it would be 93.bhp per tonne roughly , if i got my furio mapped and cammed and stripped it would be pushing 122 bhp per tonne if it had a minimum of 105bhp at the fly
-
#4I got my westcoast down to 820kgs (same car as a furio)
thread for it

-
#5how much did you take out of it ?? like carpet, door cards etc ??
-
#6Remember that most peole that seriously strip their cars get cages, which weigh a good 30-35kg for a good one. when my car is complete i will take mine down to get weighed
-
#7Okay mate, i wouldn't bother getting a cage tho, tbh if i'm gunna crash i'm gunna die lol.. saxo's aint exactly safe anyway .. but if you find out the weight that'd be cool
-
#8That was everything out all up the front behind the dash etc in the end.Quote:how much did you take out of it ?? like carpet, door cards etc ??
As Ryan always says with the roll cages is that on the roads, if you crash then its just more metal to bang your head on. If you have a helmet then it wouldnt be as bad, but at least youd have a protected cacoon for you to sit in. Unless its full front impact. -
#9So in them pics that you've got on my thread , how much roughly ddi that take off in weight, so carbon door cards, and basicly no rear interior ??
-
#10a furio weights less than that to startQuote:

a furio weights 840kg standard so could probly get it down to 810-820kg -
#11i always thoguht that a standard saxo was 930 kg ??
-
#13About the cage dangers, that's why i have head protection seats with harnesses
-
#14cheers for the parkers guide.. that cleared it up for me
lol , and adam thats a good idea then , i expect those seats cost a fair whack tho didnt they ??
-
#15Yeah, they're on my progress thread, drivers was £400 ish and the passengers was around £420 cause it's slightly wider
-
#16yeah i was also going to mention a standard furio is 840 kg
-
#17ye cos there ally heads
means they weight alot less
-
#18ouch! 820 just for seats .. man thats gotta hurt... ahh well i spose if they do the job , right ?
-
#19It did hurt, but no point making a half arsed attempt at a track car. they are tasty seats though. can't spend money on the engine due to insurance
-
#20Well how are you going to compete if its basicly standard ?? and you do realise that stripping it will instantly increase your insurance ?? and especially if you put a roll cage in it .. so if you havn't told them about that .. you might aswell mod your engine aswell mate
-
#21thats mad on how light the saxo is.
my bmw is about 1600kg lol -
#22ye they weight nothin!! and thats with out gettin polycarb windows, fibreglass pannels
-
#23yup if he got a cf bonnet or fb bonnet you could quite easily take another 10kg off of that
-
#24remove airbag seat 15kgs.seat belt 1.2kgs total 16.2kgs.
replace with bucket seat 8.1 kgs harness 1.75kgs 4x eye bolts/back plates .6 kgs side mounts 1.75 kgs. weld in rails 1.75 kgs total 13.95kgs.
only saving 2.2 kgs/seat
i thought i was saving loads of weight on seats alone till i added it up.
its hard to shift more than 60ish kgs by stripping alone, rather than replacing std with c.f/poly etc. -
#25I am gonna tell insurers about the cage and that. and yes i could leave it standard but that would be boring. and gonna have a hell of a lot more fun in this one
-
#26ye it looks like the cars empty yet all the little bits still add up
-
#27Yeahh.. tesco.. every little helps LOL
-
#28edit.. Saxo.. Every little helps LOL
