the difference between vtr inlet and rallye one

  1. #1

surely it can only be a good thing as its huge but very light too
  2. #2
have you fitted it to your car mate?
  3. #3
not yet but tomorrow as alot of fiddling and making sure things are spot on before fitting and im waiting for gaskets and throttle cable to turn up
  4. #4
will with stand a higher lift cam ph4.

hopefully youll get it going mate, these can be right gypos to set up.

what 1 was smaller mate? the vtr or vts 1? what actually causes the problem to make these run spot on is it the throttle body?
  9. #9
    the vtr one is smaller.

    the ICV causes the problems.
  10. #10
You sure that's a vtr tb though?
Cause it looks like a 16v one to me
Cause the icv is positioned diff on vtr tb and so is the bit where the throttle cable goes onto
and also it looked like it had that groove thing that fed air to icv but it's been cut off and smoothed

unless I'm having a real special moment lols
  11. #11
it aint a 16v one chris.

ive tried fitting that and i didnt work.
  12. #12
nope definaterly my vtr one thats on my car now and had it enlarged a while ago through a mate of mine and and enlarged butterfly, this is off an early silvertop engine theyre much more simple so i dont have to worry about it not idling etc as it runs fine now on standard inlet and i.ll be keeping all the sensors origonal to vtr inlet gonna fit it today so i'll let ya all know later this evening fingers crossed

all fitted and runs spot on pulls a lot harder right through rev range will get pics up tomorrow but very pleased brilliant mod
  14. #14
how did you plumb the ICV?

Get in on the central south rolling road day see what sort of figures the engine puts out now!

would love to will have a search later to find it

a standard vtr one will work you just have to drill 3 holes in right place like i did in top pic

drilled big enough hole into the end of in let and it had its own seal which worked perfect tried to pics up but photobucket is down at moment will try later

Sounds like a great solution to fitting the rallye inlet!!

Saves all the messing about with wires etc!!

Well measure the hole in the inlet, and the hole in the TB, and then match the two by enlarging the inlet hole so that the transition from TB to Inlet is seamless
  22. #22
theres about 4mm difference, the vtr slightly smaller but should work fine hears the bits ive modded and this was fitted to a silvertop 90bhp

first the injection wiring runs down between the middle legs of the inlet and you need to drill a hole big enought for the plug to fit down through

not pretty but its not seen when on but needs to be an inch square as its a big ass plug

next map sensor but straight forward

this will get cleaned up as just wanted it to seal and run

next icv i drew round it as didnt have drill big enough bit drilled lots of small holes the filed it till smooth then drilled and tapped screw holes, the icv has its own seals and as lond as you dont drill to big a hole its seals on the rubber o ring

next throttle body, redrill holes to match inlet see pic, and all the wires will reach no probs and it uses all your own sensors, you will need diesel throttle cable but if you order it throught a motor factors its one you can cut to any length and they give you all bits

and youll have to make up your own throttle cable braket mines a bit of a bodge but did work well at moment, as the throttle boddy is on angle it makes life a bit more difficult

    and voila

it idles perfect and makes the most amazing roar ever id do it over and over just for noise and its made quite a differnce all round to mine very happy for easy mod that start to finish cost me about 75quid

    inlet was £65 on ebay
s reg diesel throttle cable 11quid
    rallye in let gaskets £2.50
    sealent etc £5

hope this helps and is alot easier than fitting rally throttle boddie and cutting wires whole job took 4 hours
