ive had the same problem mate. I was getting black spotty patches every were!!

So i went to halfords & got some 800 sandpaper

Rub it down with that ( but not so the paint comes off ) just so you get them fine scratch marks. Wash it down with some water & then when its dry primer it , leave for 30 mins.. & then give it a coat of paint... Looks amazing after pal

    Hope this helps

i would personaly use 1200 wet or dry paper as it will scratch the surface just enough to paint it and it is likely that 800 will put deep scratches and you will have to use loads of primer paint and clear coat to cover them up....

note if preping plastics use p600 wet or dry paper and then apply plastic primer sand it down with p800 clean apply top coat and then clear coat if you arnt hapy with the finish let it dry and gently rub down with p1200 - p2000 wet or dry t-cut and then polish

And then look at your handy work

Plastic primer and clean with metholated spirits, then rinse. Try that

If your doing it outside and the spray can is cold probs why its running, try putting the can into some hot water to get the temp up and if possible get the splitter warmer(hair drier) from my experience this should help avoid runs
