Help Quick Please? (Update!) ECU Problem :( Again!

    Hi,

    Basicaly my gti has been running fine, and today took it to get some oil for the clio, got home turned it off, went to go to the shop in it, and it sounds like its running on 3 or is in limp mode!?

    engine is very shakey and stalls if not revved..

    Checked all plugs and they all fine pretty light brown tbh tho..

    done compression test and all in the green!

    Completely stumped!

    any help please?!!!

    Yeah for some reason, one off my injectors is fooked..

    i brought some redex injector cleaner and put it straight in the throttle cody and some in the petrol tank, and keep the car running for a bit then switched it off and left it for about 2 hours and it seems to be fine now, but think im gunna get some new injectors now just to make sure!

    i wouldnt bother tbh. Even if you do, get some low millage second hand ones.

    Well last nite the problem was okay, i emptyd a bottle off injector cleaner into my tank then thort ill go get some petrol.. started the car sounded okay for about a min then started to sound like a motorbik again , drove to the cloest petrol station put some petrol in and it was the same! was very hard to rev and was very sluggish, but really struggling to rev, but felt like it wanted to! then the ecu light came on, made no difference to the engine but just came on

    woke up this morning and the car wouldnt start AGAIN! so took plugs out checked them, put a little bit off petrol in the bores and put it back together and boom car started.. but still sounds like a morotbike :| almost like its running on 3 again :| and the ecu light is still on

    Made a quick video, qautly is just so bad but its the sound really..

    The engine is shakey quite a lot and sounds almost like its running on 3!

    video sucks tbh, but the car isnt very free revving..

    could this be because i put to much injector cleaner in :|?



    Also it idels okay.. :|

    would still run if coilpack knacker could of broken down internally on one part does the engine vibrate(sp)? orit normal and just miss firing ?

    engine vibrates quite a lot

    think it may be injector again :|

    Could to much injector cleaner cause this?

    Cleaner won't cause it check each connection and maybe replace problem injector

    Okay, ive checked ALL earths prior to this when it wouldnt start atal, due to locked ecu, so pretty sure they all okay

    Gunna takle the inlet manifold tomorrow and see then try get some second hand injectors and see

    As a very last resort, I know a reputable garage who will check it out for you. Hope you get it sorted though fella

    How do i do that? just keep 3 plugs in? and go through them? how do i start it :|? as the coil pack will cover it :|

    You want to be looking for a black sooty plug where the injector has failed to fire. Also unclip coil pack and turn engine over a few times to get some fuel into the cylinders. Remove plugs and see which ones are wet with fuel

    I'm pretty sure it's a sooty plug your looking for. The other method is spot on though

    Im sure my car has gone into limp mode now..ive left the battery off over night and gone to start the car this morning and its started fine running on 3 again :@, but i remember on my old vtr it sounded just like this when it went into limp mode :|

    how can i reset this? ive tryed unplugging the ecu and leavign battery off over nite but still there :|

    That's the only way to reset it limp mode just stops you accelerating over 3k

    Sounds like the coil pack.

    My coil pack went was running on 3 cylinders, had to rev it hard to get it going sounded like a motorbike, replaced coilpack and was fine again

    Sounds like the same symptons as mine buddy...

    o, mabey its not limp mode then :|, revvs are very restricted, i could plant my foot and it would take like 5 seconds to get to about 4k.. :|

    ive put a but mre injector cleaner in the throttle body today and going to leave it for a bit to try and soak in. getting some second hand injectors tomorrow i hope. so going to try that..

    also looking around everyone has blue ring injectors but mine are orange :|, will blue ones fit? any difference in them?

    Im about to do the plug test now. and see if i can see which injector it is. ill take some photos so i cn show you.

    but these problems sound exactly the same as i was having and i replaced the coil pack everthing was fine !

    gunna check plugs 1st and see if one if black, as sparco tom seems to be right on everything else

    That spray carb injector cleaner is crap don't use it. The fuel tank one is alright. Fit any vts gti injectors.

    the werid thing is, i always thort when a injector went it never comes back? its dead from there on..

    but on mine it ran like a motorbike then worked fine.. then went back to motorbike again :|

    im gunna get some injectors and a new coil pack lol.. found a place that can clean injectors so may aswel have them cleaned when i replace them, every little helps!

    i used the one you put in your fuel tank, but i put some off it straight in throttle body to try get it in the injectors a bit faster lol

    It couldbe the injector loom causing issues or the plug on the injector

    Could it be injector relay? relay under ecu?

    As befor it was clicking ect.. :| and my dad took it apart and checked it ect..

    Ive got one off these round my bros if it could be this!?

    This sounds a lot like my saxo issue, We bought a saxo that cuts out at low revs? And if you rev it then let it go down into low revs again the car shakes/vibrates for a few seconds... Any help?

    Seriously matey try the new coil pack separate to the new injector and see if it works so you can narrow the problem right down and find the solution. Seriously if the coil pack is faulty then one of the spark splugs won't fire and it will probably be wet from the in burnt fuel but sometimes it tends to pick back up just give it a try.

    Well my brand new coil pack is going to be here monday

    Also i have 2 second hand coil packs and they are both having the same problem.. so personly dont think it is the coilpack..

    But having a problem trying to source orange band ones, so trying to find out weather green band ones fit.

    Well today my BRAND new coilpack came and still no joy, ran a bit better but still got the 106 motorbike

    injectors should be here tomorrow so will be PRAYING it is them lol!

    Run the engine from Cold and feel which exhaust isnt getting hot at least then u know which cylinder has the problem, I had this exact same problem a few days ago but mine was because the one of the injector rail plugs had fallen off due to the clip being missing...

    If the plugs spark while earthing them to the rocker cover then the coil pack is working !

    Well today fitted my new injectors lol..

    NO JOY.. so thort i would bite the bullet and took it to peugeot..

    Got there and one off my old college mates walks out off the garage in overalls.. and tell him the problem.. he walks back into the garage gets a couple off tools.. whips my inlet off.. (top part) and takes the plugs off my injectors and tests them and 1 and 4 arnt getting a pulse ATAL! he then shows me with some bulb thing that plugs into the connectors and 2and3 are bright lights and 1 and 4 no light atal..

    he turns around and goes wait there, runs back into the garage runs out with another ecu, and said they this one, its locked so wont start but you should get a light for a second when first turning it over.. so this will see weather its the wirers or not..

    he puts the ecu on turns the key and both 1 and 4 light up for a quick second..

    so my ecu is fu*ked again!! so now i have 2 ecus which have problems..

    so get home get on ebay and see some dude splitting a saxo vtr with gti engine in it, just down the road so went and spoken to him and got the ecu off him..

    He then give me a bit off paper saying it was remapped around 2 months ago it ran out off mot.. so throt bargain!

    so im praying that is my problem so going back to peugeot tomorrow for my mate to try that!
