cost of having a rear axel fitted

took my car to the garage today and it needs a new rear Axel.

what would be a reasonable price for a new axel and have it fitted?
is it worth getting it done? my cars an 02 vtr done 67500 miles.

    thanks all, Adam

You can get rear axles from Ebay/local breakers.

Prices vary to be honest near the £100 depending on condition. Cheapest I have been quoted by a reliable garage to fit is £100 labour costs.

I'm gonna get a new rear Axel so the problem wont repeat it's self.

but that seems very cheap for a full Axel swap. they told me of the top of there head its a 6 hour job.

I've just splashed out on one.. got a 52' reg VTR with the same amount of miles as you mate! Got it 2weeks ago and already needed a new axle I went to IM axle, it cost £250 for a fully refurbed one (2yr warranty). I didn't want to spend that much but countless people told me it was worth it in the long run
