Furio brake upgrade???

  1. #1
I want to upgrade my brakes on my furio but am undecided as what to go for. Would vts brakes be of any use, maybe 266mm's from berlingo etc. can you make suggestions and list what i would need for each conversion.
    Cheers

furio ones are th same as vtr/vts iirc. 266 or if you have 15" wheels 283s are a good shout.

    106 GTi brakes are perfect!

    high spec 4pots

vtr/s re-discs best way to go i think

Would the vtr or vts brakes give me a noticible difference or would it be a waste of time? and as for the 4 pots, i would love them but they're like £500 odd quid

VTR VTS brakes are the same as Furio? If they aint then the only difference is tha tthe VT discs are vented.

The saxo brakes are shit and just not worth while.

266mm setup is a good single pot setup, its fairley light and gives a good difference over the standards.

283 GTI6 are next up, alot heavier and alot of poeple say the weight of these make them no more benificial over the 266mm, however it depends how you brake, as the 266 will warm up quicker than the GTI6 as they have smaller discs.

Ive just got GTI 180's and i now realise how the 266mm will have a huge advantage over them in weight. These are rediculously heavy.

After them you have the brembos then your 4 pots etc

ye mine where 800£ but i think a vtr/s rear axle is good with any sort of front disc conversion.... i dont think they do loads compard to the front but nice to have all round discs

    quicker to cool down

266's for a furio. the engines not powerful enough to need any more

    283s weigh shit loads

my 247 set up weighs more than my wilwoods!

4pots are great untill you realise how hard you have to drive to make them worthwhile. you can have just as good a set up on a single pot set up especially with a 1.4 engine.

just make sure you get good discs and pads

generally, pads and discs are far more expensive for 4pots, hispec charge £400 for a pair of 2peice discs

Ok then, 4 pots are off the table. yeah i'll probably go for the gti brakes. Would these be te right 266's to get or are there better ones for the job?

You can get the 4 pot brembos for quite cheap. On ebay there around £200. Which aint too bad, and they are v light.

The GTI-6 brakes are good, but heavy. So it might be worth the extra few quid getting the brembos if you have a track car.

266s are from pug 206 gti with 140bhp (not the 206 gti 180) you can also get them off berlingo's, pug partners and other bigger cars in the PSA range.

to fit them you will need the caliper, caliper carrier, caliper bolts from the donor car (they're longer) pads, discs

they are the same as furios. All vt models have the same front brake set up bar abs. (which you can for Rs and furios/westcoast because it was an optional extra.)

Iv got gti-6 brakes purely for looks on my furio.
