breather filter?

   i was thinking of putting a breather filter straight onto the rocker cover, is there any point in doing this and will it affect anything? thanks

   I did it, within days it was black and dirty. Dont know if it was my engine at fault but i would stick to the standard system. Citroen spent lots of money researching engine breathing lol.

   You need an oil catch tank. all that oil is what usually is fed back into the air system and therefore your engine because Citroen wanted to save a few extra pennies.

   If the oil breather is connected to the top of the induction kit and oil get into the air way would that not damage your car? So would an oil breather filter be better

   the oil is fed back into the engine via the induction system. its not a problem dude. it's how the car was designed to work.

    You say its fed back into the engine. ok, where is the oil supposed to be. it's not supposed to be in the combustion chamber, it will lead to excessive carbon build up, fouled spark plugs and engine wear, excessive pollutants and the list goes on. oil will only be sucked back into the induction system through high throttle.

    All that normally comes out of the top of the engine is vapourised oil. You may get a splash of oil every now and then but not much else. The baffle in the rocker cover acts as a barrier to stop oil flooding through here but still allowing the engine to breath so it doesn't build up excess pressure. The only reason it goes back into the engine is to keep green peace happy.

    take off the breather pipe, what do you find, oil. oil vapour only has to cool down to become liquid again. which it will do in the intake system
