bloody car

    as most of you know ive pretty much rebuilt my car after buying a lemon and now after a new gearbox, new driveshafts and offside bottom arm i think my nearside bottom arm now needs doing and to top it all off i have a strong petrol smell, never had the smell before then filled the tank and within hours it stank of fumes, left it overnight and there was a tiny patch on the floor, touched it and sniffed and it was petrol, car on stands and can find no bloody leak, car smellls mainly on the inside but have checked the pump and seals also, i did notice that its also after ive put my foot down but its really starting to annoy me now, its a good job i dont smoke or id have a cig due to stress and probably blow myself up lol.
    Any ideas would be appreciated

    Petrol evaporates quickly so the puddle might be a combination of fluids.

    The exhaust tailpipe isn't tucked inside the back bumper is it?

    Other than checking the whole fuel system and finding an evident leak you will struggle to pin point it. The fuel lines run from the fuel pump under the rear seats, to the fuel filter, into the car along the left side of the car, to the bulkhead through the bulkhead via a connector, to the fuel rail via a few bits and then all the way back;

    Check under back seats (fuel pump), behind passenger seat (fuel line enters car) and the bulkhead (fuel line leaves car).

    Check infront of passenger side wheel (fuel filter)

    Check bulkhead under bonnet (fuel line comes into engine bay from car)

    Check fuel rail (fuel pressure regulator inlet, and outlet onto fuel rail, injectors and fuel return)

    Its easy to get a smell of fuel vapour in the car but you need to determine how strong it is, its always strong but its very strong if theres a full blown leak.

    thankyou for your help guys, I have traced the lines fully as no interior apart from buckets and harnesses and put £20 in it yesterday and there was no smell so a little confused, how much would you charge for a bottom arm? I could come to you if your not too far away and as not a big job if you had tools maybe i could fit it?
