Expected Mileage VTR

  1. #1
Whilst looking at VTR's for sale, whats the expected mileage they will do?

Im coming from the VAG world where mileage is nothing to worry about, but how do the French cope?

According to Parkers car guide, 42mpg.

I have a furio 1.4, and it says I should be getting 44mpg. However, I can get almost 500 miles out of a full tank if driven sensibly.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: if it helps any more, the fuel tank has a 45ltr capacity.

Lets just say not as long as the VAG's lol! But ive heard some close to 200k... Few of my mates got 140k+

All depends how you take care of the engine....

    Hope this helps

About 50-75k is easy millage to find, and they should run spot on for a long while just make sure it's got long service history and hasn't been touched yet and you'd be fine

as with all cars if looked after they will go for ages there was a s1 106 rallye with 250k on before it was turned into a maxi, my old gti had 150k on and still made good power.

VTRs are like tanks engine wise to I'd say if looked after no reason it shouldn't do 150k+ if usual service is done

Real world nothing get looked after on these cars so 125k and expect the worst

If it's out of a dealership I would say about 57k and up

Private sales are about 80k and up

mines on 145k V plate, and all is well... !!

change the oil, filter and service parts that need it... it will last for ages.

A friends 106 gentry was on 210k when he saw it again after sellin git on... he disconnected the speedo at 65k for 2 years before he sold it!

ive seen worn piston rings and solid valve stem seals at 110k a few times, these may very well be the abuse examples though

yer they are worth nothing, its only when you add an ecu and loom it gets abit more expensive.
Bare engine that will just bolt in and match up with your original loom and ecu wont cost you anything to buy

I bought my 52 reg VTR last summer for 2500 with 50k miles on it, its on about 54k now, so they shouldnt be hard to find for a reasonable price.

a breakers up the road has 4 mint VTR engines with gear boxes sat in a unit. last time i checked he only wanted about £130 each for the engines.

French cars mate. Look for one thats done less than say 8000 miles a year and should be okay. make sure bodywork is in good condition, no obvious rust etc, because engines can be cheap to replace. gearboxes and bodywork are more costly.

you can get mint gear boxes for £100 these days too
