High Revs

   Hi all , just bought a vtr 2002 , and driving along with window open and i get to bout 5-6 k revs and change gear i hear a like a rattling nose , just wander what it is , it doesnt do it when not in gear ,
   
   any help will be good

   Something to do with the gear box, clutch, or thrust bearing maybe?

   might be the gear linkages does it happen when you move the stick or when you acctually just put it in gear sitself. as above could be your clutch or gearbox.

   well when i get to the high revs and then just when i change gears , doesnt happen when i tried to leave it in gear for longer , just as it changes down in revs

   When you say doesn't to it when not in gear, do you mean at 4-5k revs?
   
   Just thought it might be something daft like exhuast or heat shield. Heat shield vibrated on mine but only between a certain rev.

   it comes from engine bay by sounds of it , not coming from my exhaust as i have checked that all , not sure but it mite have something to do with my clutch ,
   
   my engine has a whirling sound when sat idling , and then i put clutch in and sound stops , so mite just be the clutch ,
   
   what do you guys rekon

   Thats your clutch release bearing.

    Sounds like it to me. My VTR did that put wasn't massivly noticable. They do make a bit of a whiring noise.

    Yeah mine was the exhaust heat shield. Tightened it up and all was fine. Worth looking at the simple things too mate just in case.
