Important! : Bloody car

  1. #1
I have just tried to drive my car for the first time in a few days, and the car refuses to go into reverse properly. the thing is happy to go into any other gear though and i havent had a problem up with the gears up until now.

please tell me the gear box isnt screwed?
  2. #2
noo i wouldnt go as far as screwed but i would get it looks out you might just need some more fluid in it !!!
  3. #3
check to see if it is leaking from the driveshafts the seals may have gone, hard to get in gear tends to mean theres not much fluid if there is it could be the linkages thn if that aint it maybe new gearbox

Yeah i'd go for lack of fluid as well. Reverse doesn't have a syncro so is much my noticible when there is a lack of fluid

Reverse is generally difficult to get on the saxo/106 boxes. I put mine into 3rd/1st then throw it into reverse. I would ask you to try gettingreverse with engine switched off. I think maybe your clutch cable i slack and not fully disengaging egine from box (aka clutch drag)

Allllso!. . . check your linkages, i know it sounds to simple for that to be the reason but in my old saxo exact same thing happened but i left it and then the gear link ball joint popped out . So check them over just to be sure may save you time and money
