#2cheapest option is to do it yourself. Or you would pay anything around £100-£200 to have it done professionally.
But to do it urself, you can either take bumpers off or mask them off really well. Then rub down all the trim with something like 240 grade wet and dry. Then go over it all again with 1400 grade or something. Get them completely smooth.
3-4 coats of plastic primer, rubbing down inbeween coats. Leave about 24 hours to dry
3-4 coats of chosen colour, leaving 24 hours to dry before giving it 3-4 coats of clear laquer -
#3how much am i looking at, to buy all of this?
-
#420-30 quid for sand paper and paint. maybe not even that depends where you go
-
#5go to halfords that will be ya cheapest place to get the stuff from
-
#6You would probably need about 6 300ml cans in all so at £6 each thats £36. Then a pack of 1400 grade about £2, and a pack of 240 grade, again about £2
-
#7Cheers for the help, think this will be my next project, i have a feeling i will sand down the paint but i'll try.
-
#9Thanks mate, i'll have a look around
-
#10"i have a feeling i will sand down the paint" if you mean body paint then take them off the car first?
-
#12pull them gently, theres little plug type things behind tho so be carefull you dont snap them, best to just put a few layers of masking tape on if your worried!!
-
#13yh, i know what ya mean about the plugs, i took the rear panels out to wire up speakers, i'll give it a go tomorrow.

#14gdgd post how you got on

#15tbh the halfords gloss black was diapointing. even with the clear laquer and a good polish they never look as good as the bumpers i had done at the body shop. just a thought if you want it perfect. i wish i had had it done properly tbh
-
#16For the best results i would take it to a body shop, Im going to be calling a family friend in the week as he has just recently bought a spray booth, his work is real good even outside so hopefully his work will be good when he does my bumpstips glossy black, hopefully in the next month or so
Itll be more expensive but atleast you knows its been professionally
(No offence to the people who have done it themselves, as i know some of them have been done and they look good).
-
#17yeah, i agree with what your saying, how much do ya think it will cost for all my trims?
-
#18it will cost about 130 quid in a good spray shop ... but i know it sounds strange but if you have a college near you that teaches paint and body then ask them how much they charge i know my college charges 10 pound an hour and the body shop down the road charges 30 pounds an hour and the spray jobs are just as good. i am half way through doing a customers car now
