I thought id whack it here, as this is where the most knowledgable people hang about.

im after one, but dont really know what to get.

do i go for something which costs a fair whack and has a decent name?

or will something alot less be just as good?

also what are you lot using?

    a big shiny one

Anything by Norbar would be the best imo. The electronic ones I have used are ok but not as good.

For a Norbar one expect to pay a fair amount but its a good investment.

the more you spend the better it will be. you get what you pay

Keeping it correctly calibrated is also an important thing to do

I have a britool one. A peach of a tool. pretty pricey though

depends how much you will be using it mate, if its just for a home jobbie, then i wouldnt go spending loads on a top quality one. But as swampy said, aslong as you keep it calibrated, should be fine whichever
