Replace door/fixing dents

  1. #1
Hi, had a Saxo 2001 Furio given to me (nice!) that is pretty beaten up and dented. Bought a new door for the passenger side and is wondering if anyone has any experience of replacing doors themselves, is it easy? Or am I better of getting it done at a garage, cost?

Looking into fixing all the dents & scratches (yes there are many), got a quote from a local garage on £300 for fixing passenger side (door not included) but a whooping £800 for the whole car...I know it is hard to say without seeing the car but does anyone know if the prices are in the right ball park?

I will try to sort out a pic of the poor banger, appreciate any help and feedback!

    thanks,
    Peter

I replaced the passenger door on my Vtr ,it was really easy apart from undoing the bolts holding the check strap to the body. The bolts have locktite on the threads and are a bitch to undo.Plenty of sweat and grunting will get them undone. The door hinges just undo quite easily and once they are both out the door comes away easily.Dont forget to unscrew the the electrical connector before you take the door off.Have fun!

thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it!

Well..got the door today...and...wrong color! Blue metallic instead of black even though Just Peugeot Citroen Parts (http://www.peugeotcitroenparts.co.uk/) confirmed it was black when ordering it.

Now they claim that they have a company policy that they can not guarantee the right color! (why the hell would I then order from then if I knew that from the beginning!!). Guess the telephone salesman was prepared to promise me anything if he could get a sale through (he hung up on me as soon as the payment got through..should have suspected something..)

They are offering a refund but they will not cover my shipping cost (£20-30) to send it back. Spoke to them today and they are absolutely terrible to deal with as many other online reviews can confirm. So STAY AWAY from them.. awful customer service and very ignorant.

Any knows how much it will cost to get it resprayed?? LOL

Plan B is to go to a scrap yard and swap it with a black one...*sigh*

Plan C is to find a new one and ebay the blue metallic one (make me an offer..)

Plan D is find a new one and use the old one as emotional receiver of build up anger.

Im in London N7..if anyone nearby got a spare BLACK passenger door...Furio 1.4...
