Starter Motor problem!

  1. #1
    Hi all,
I have a 2000 model VTR, when I turn the key to start it the starter motor makes a winding noise but is not turning the engine over. It takes about 5 to 10 attempts to actually get it started. It's as if it's not connenting to the flywheel or something... Any ideas guys?.. Is it time for a new starter motor do you reckon..?

    Cheers

For now mate push the car a few inches forwards while it's in gear and try again to start it (after putting it back into neutral of course).

if starter motor fails, try a new flywheel. that's what happened in my fiesta. paid for a new starter motor and realised it was the flywheel lol.

Starter from a scrap yard should be about £20.
