  1. #1
hey i've just bought a de-cat pipe off ebay, just wondering if any1 can give me any ideas of the bhp gain i would get?
  2. #2
i heard it was something like 5 to 10bhp i think.

Could be more i wouldnt think more than 15 tho

ideal mate, thats not a bad gain for £40.
  4. #4
    lucky if you see 3.

10 bhp from a decat pipe is ludicrous

scott does the same apply with mine? cat being in manifold ?

no slightly different as the standard vtr manifold is pap so combining with a new manifold should see better gains.

dean_vtr: no im not joking, you only replacing the cat with a bit of pipe the cat isnt that restrictive.

i think the de-cat pipe helps, it revs better and is quicker, the cat is resticing the power cause of what the cat is fill with, its recsticing the gases, so i think abt a least between 5 and 10 bhp increase,

    Scott is not lying mate!

You cant expect to get mega power for £40.

    Power costs Money!

If tho you group a De-Cat with a Full System and Enclosed Induction kit, And Manifold then you should see good gains. But dont expect Miracles!

rofl if you think your going to get 5>10bhp from a decat pipe then by all means carry on.

It wont, but then again i bet you belive that a filter will give you the same

    Lol! Doenst it then Scott

EDIT: Remember Dont forget my Ebay Mod Chip. 25Bhp for £5.

It will put BHP on your car if you de cat it cause it will let the gases flow more easyly without any hold back, but remember when it comes to MOT time you will have to put the cat back on.
  14. #14
your also losing sound pulse waves removing the cat box, so thats you down a bit before you gain anything.
  15. #15
yeah i know about that, i think i'm just better of saving for a VTS, lol
  16. #16
    10-15 bhp off a de-cat pipe LMBO! © sax-p!

As scott says about 3 bhp max.
  17. #17
lol the cat is not filled with restrictive items, its filled with a filter to catch the harmfull gases, have a look at an airfilter, can you see through it? noooooooo so isnt that more restrictive?
  18. #18
i asked an exhaust specialist about de-cats and he sed 5-15 bhp increase is absolute bollox and that theirs no point in wasting my money. He said you will only really notice gains if the rest of ur car is highly tuned with it.

As scott says you loose some sound pressure waves but you need a little bit of back pressure to help expell the next cycle of gases.

    See www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk

    They explain it very well.

what sort of performance gain should i expect when de-catting my vts? more than a vtr?
