gearbox problem

   he guys a mate of mine has just brought VTR car runs fine in 1,2,3,4 but when you try going in 5th gear nothing happens ? looking at it it looks like the gearlinkage is hitting the bulk head when trying to go into 5th am reli stuck and dont know what the problem could be plz help guys

   is the selector bent?
   or the engine mount worn?

   sorry to be a bit dumb but witch engine mount? i dont think the selector is bent
