Do they override the limiter set by the ecu?

ive tried searching the tinternet, but found out very little.

I dont want a stupidly high limiter, just the same as the rallyes 7,200 i belive

cant you get the limiter reset with a map??

(i dont have a clue about maps or anythin)

yes, but theres a 300 difference between the 2.

and the mods i have done dont really require a map imo, but the short box i has would be a litte better with a higher limiter.

No, they will not do this. It should not cost to much to get your stock ECU mod to do this for you though.

whats involved with removing the limiter?

i once had an unlocked ecu and so did a friend, and we found one pin had been removed.

is it just a case of opening the ecu up (if possible) and unsoldering something? or am i being a moron? lol

Probably your best bet would be call up a few ECU/chip tuning companies and ask how much it would cost to race the rev limit 500rpm or so. If your a bit more DIY oriented you can buy generic ships that you can fit your self. Generally people recommend against then as you really want the engine mapped to its self and not a generic map. But if your only after upping the rev limit they will be fine.

    cheers ax.

well, i probably would do it myself, but i could cause alot of ball ache if it goes pete tong.

i think bluehawk do it, and i may give ryanmt on here a pm and see what he can offer.

Afaik on eBay you can purchase a replacement EPROM for your ECU which has the standard map but with a higher rev limit.

unless engine is tuned , dif cam ,its a waste of time max power is at 5800 and if its a silver top vtr the vaqlves will bounce with std springs before it gets to 7200,

theres so many chips lol its not even funny.

going to rebuild the head with rallye valves and springs, i had a rallye head but its shot.

however the valves and springs are in a good condition

Youll need to overried the standard rev limit if you want it set higher. I can do it with vts ones for you but no the vtr

    how about early vtr ones?

as they are the same shape plug, but i dont know if there the same pin layout
