aux belt tentioner rounded

Need to change my alternator and aux belt on my 02 vts tomorrow but the tensioner bolt has been rounded off, its a 5mm Allen key at the bottom to move the pulley up or down. Question is i can move it slightly with mole grips but im not sure if it will be enough to tighten the new belt properly so can i just use a bar of some sort to lift the tensioner pulley up and tighten the bolts up or will it slip in time? Cheers

You could just use a jack handle etc. to push it up.

could probably jack it up tbh.

So the thin tensioner bolt isnt a necessity then, it will be ok once the tension on the belt is set with a bar ect and locked in place with just the two bolts on the alternator?
