Window tinting DIY job or Garage?

  1. #1
Im wanting to get my windows tinting, is it worth my takin my saxo to a garage to get it done, or just do it myself if its easy enough.
  2. #2
hey mate, i think the back to are relatively easy but the back is meant to be a b***h. if you have a spare cash get it done professionally as I'm doing next month plus the one I'm going to you get a life time guarantee on the tints.

at the end of the day mate all depends on your budget and the quality of the finish you want
    hope this helps mate

My budget is very low only a college student and currently dont have a job, i got priced for the back 3, £100, and i think thats pretty high just for the back 3.

deffo get them done professionally mate i did mine with that window tint stuff it was fine for like a day then it started peeling off i can get drivers and passengers side and all back 3 done for £100
  5. #5
i think that's good mate £100 for the back three. I'm going to pay £130 depending on how much discount my mate can get me.save up then mate and wait, if you buy all the stuff and it looks cheap and tacky it'll be a waste

Im wanting the 2 front ones done too.. so about £150 in total do ya think?
  7. #7
the problem with the front 2 is the legality of it, you don't want do it then a week later get pulled by old bill for it.if you are going to do the front two defiantly get it done professionally and make sure they use law abiding tint for the front as i wouldn't trust say ebay products. its up to you at the end of the day mate but seems a good price if the quality's good
  8. #8
    ok, thanks for advice mate
  9. #9
dont do the front two yourself unless your not bothered by points on your license, get them done professionally and legally at least then you have some comeback if you get pulled.
  10. #10
Yeah, dont think im gonna do any of them myself, save some money up and get them done.
  11. #11
    good good

May take a few weeks, but will be worth it
  13. #13
exactly and maybe do a few cheap D.I.Y mods in the meantime to keep up the progress.
  14. #14
What type of DIY mods, im not that creative, and make them cheap as possible

Will T-Cut badges when i get some T-Cut, hopefully will be soon, Tax due at end of the month so saving for that, then get a tyre sorted, then put my Black gloss VTR alloys on... May sound stupid, but whats this all about "De-wiper" What would T-Cut do on bumperstrips? just make them look blacker..?
  17. #17
not sure about bumper strip tbh i have a flat arch desire. de wiper is basically get rid of your rear screen wiper and replace with a rubber grommet. haven't done it as i like my rear wiper, i know allot of people just say use a water run product but rather have the wiper. nice really want some black vtr alloys when i get a bit of spare cash
  18. #18
Think i'll keep the wiper, got the wheels last week, bought the bolts for it the other day, just waiting to get some cash together to repair a tyre.

dont t-cut your bumperstrips, you can get a proper bootle of stuff for about £3 and it makes bumperstips look brand new and stops them going light gray colour, you can get it for abou £1 a bottle at places like home bargains but it isn't as good

I want to get them black gloss, again a garage job to be done properly
  21. #21
you can do bumperstrips gloss black yourself too just get primer, black and laquer rattle cans. im sure their is a tutorial kicking around somewhere on here to do it.

My saxo came with limo black back half and very light front two side windows. dont think it could have been done without removing the windows and theres also the question of the rear brake light and the heater strips in the rear window?

Tried to do it on my old scooby and it was such a bi**h i just give up tbh!

ahh ok mate, deffo a garage job

if you tint your own windows and it acctually works id run naked down the street. tried and failed mate but give it a shot by all means
  28. #28
lmao, no need for you to be running naked mate, not even attempting them.
