confirmation on clutch cable adjustment

clutch is on its way out and the bite is right at the top of the pedal travel, can't get the car into garage for 3 weeks so going to adjust cable tonight to lower the bite a bit, but after a search (and i know this has been asked umpteen times) cant find hard confirmation of which way to turn the bolts to lower the bite so:

to bring the bite lower down the pedal, do i adjust clockwise or anti-clockwise

    you undo the nuts

u loosen them, turn anti clockwise if from looking at them from the front of the car

cheers, dunno why but when i turned them (either way), they just twisted back round to the point i started from? the bolts also seemed stuck together, is this right? gave up in the end...

Get a 13 mm spanner on the big nut, 10mm spanner on the smaller nut. Then under the smaller one (loosen it) Then after a few turns adjust the big nut (loosen it) so its up against the small one again, then tighten them back against each other so they dont become loose.
