Arm on top of gearbox?

  1. #1
    Hi

Just recently i have noticed my gearbox struggling to engage first.

1st thought was to adjust the cable however when i removed the battery and tray i discovered that the arm ontop of the gearbox which the clutch cable runs through has begun to snap

Can the arm be replaced and if so could anyone give me any pointers?

I will try get some pics to show what i mean.

    Cheers

    yes can be replaced.

You need to buy a new one, and then punch the pin out the top of it, replace it and punch in a new pin

I'd get a new one from Citroen, one from the scrappy might have done 100k so not much life left tbh - I'll just get a part number and price - one sec.

Ouch, you have to buy it from Citroen as a kit.

    Part Number - 0000211752 - £83.40

Might need to go to scrappy, try and find a low mileage one. New pin is 217203 and pennies

Thanks very much for your help.

    Is the arm vts specific?

Which side of the car do i punch the pin out from?

I have stripped the clutch cable now im just left with the arm with a pin through it.

I don't really want to pay £83 if i can help it.

the pun itself, will have 2 little 'dents' in the edge of it - you want to hit it from the other side.

    Arms aren't vt specific

Will need a fairly big hammer to punch it out

Can u see the pin?? the pin should be running front 2 back so try and tap it forward a bit then vise grips something will get it the rest of the way, should come out easy. should be tha same on most saxo boxes

Yes i can see the pin.

    It runs front to back.

I will have a go at getting the pin out and try source a second hand arm from the breakers in the morning.

    Thanks everyone.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a 2nd hand arm then.

Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated.

Right, i have tried and tried and the pin isn't moving from either side.

To add insult to injury i moved the car into my drive to take the arm off and it has now snapped completely, lol.

Does anyone have a definite answer on which side i should be hitting the pin from?
