Cropping Reg plates? Legal or not?

   Ive got a personal reg plate on my saxo: G4WNE
   
   Im just wondering if its legal or not to cut the excess off the end of the plates?

   Im Guessing not mate ! Have to be standard size ! Not sure if you could have it like the square plates on imports ect . . .

   numberplates must display (ontop of reg number legalities)
   
   * The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
   * The name, trademark or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier (The company that made the plate)
   * Name and postcode of the supplying outlet.
   
   
   the problem you'll get with cropping the plate is that the BSAU number is in the bottom right hand corner of the plates. so croping the plates would take this off therefore making it illegal

   the size of the plate does not matter aslong as the information is displayed correctly, think about rover 75 plates their not standard size are they?

   If the car is pre 2002 you can get away with out havein any of the post code and maker markeron the bottom.
   My plates dont have them and ive passed 3 mot with them.
   And my numbers are black and chrome aswell but in the legal font.
   
   The plate can be any size you want but you have to have an 11mm border of white/yellow border around the digits
