i have a green cotton filter on my vtr
but was thinking about a pipercross viper kit

anyone know the difference? whats better you reckon?

Ive got a ramair filter which seems to do a pretty good job

I have a open pipercross, not too good for performance but sounds nice

And the best compromise all round is probably the Raceland off Kam Racing imo

When I had one, for me it was the BMC CDA with a cold air feed.

That was great, also sounded refined so it didn't "Bwaahh" like the open ones.

I have an IHI RHB51 its awesome

ye i have a open air one and it gives a nice sound from the engine bay

what are the inclosed kits like i spose you dont hear much ?

raceland enclosed i find does the job nicely!

standard airbox with panel filter a pipercross one or similar, then modify the airbox to feed a cold airfeed to it, thats best, has it wont suffer from heat soak as much has the induction kit does.

I have had open cones, but the best imo is my K&N panel in the standard air box as said with a decent cold air feed, mine was from a hole cut in the bumper!

Agree with fastroadkid. I had a simota force feed, similar to Raceland. Sounded great but found a loss on initial performance. Went back to standard OEM box with panel filter and fed a cold feed to it. Don't really get a sound from it, but was 10 times better.

an inclosed one made of Carbon would be great, however there are very little which are made of Carbon fibre, but it will prevent heat soak, and with a good cold air feed, it should be a winner.

an open filter which is away from areas of heat, near down by the heatlight will also work well, as its colder, and also get more surface area over the BMC/Inclosed items.

Having used both methods, i have found that the BMC worked better.

I think theyre a fexlible plastic in a carbon print sorta thing. There is a limited edition BMC irc that is genuine carbon though.

ive had a pipercross open cone and a viper with cold air feed on the same vtr the open cone sound good and gives a good pull, but the viper seemd to pack the punch aceleration wise and sounded nice at higher revs. als had the same on the misses 1.1 and viper wins hands down

id go for the viper and cold air feed (if you can afford it)
