Dashboard lights and stereo not working

   Hey people hoping someone can help me. My dashboard lights and speedo etc have all decided to stop working along with my stereo. I've checked all the fuses and they all seem fine but changed them just in case. Anyone have any ideas what the problem may be as they are still not working. thanks.

   hi i can remember when i lost my speedo lights this happened because i hit a high curb and split a few wires of the wiring loom that runs in black casing near the front of the car under the bumper, I know this probaly wont be the same problem but thought i would try

   Was the original fuse the correct rating. If it was too high a rating then all the bulbs could have blown (possible but difficult to believe). The stereo unit usually has another in line fuse so it may be worth checking that fuse also.

   yeh the fuse was the correct rating. I've checked all the other fuses and replaced a lot of them just in hope but they are still not working. I've read a few things where people have had issues with the wiring loom. Is it an expensive job?

   Well i could see where i had split mine i just connected them back up not too sure how dear it is tho mate

   ah ok no worries. cheers for the advice at looking at the loom. I shall be doing that tonight and fingers crossed it's just something simple haha.

   <Bump> Success as i managed to locate the problem over the weekend!
   After taking the dash out and having no joy whatsoever I decided to just put it back together and take it to a garage to look. As I was doing this with 3 screws left to put back in I noticed a completely snapped wire at the bottom of the centre console tucked quite neatly into the rest of them. I promptly soldered it back together and stuck a bit of heat shrink wrap around it and bingo everything worked again. At some stage though in it's previous owners they had decided to cut and crimp every single wire so it was complete nightmare to fix. I'm well chuffed though that in effect it was something really simple that could have taken 10 mins lol. cheers for the advice given though!!
