Gear Linkage

   Hi every1 just a quick question, what is the best way to take of the smaller gear linkage bar. I have tried this and it seems the rubber stays on the ball when its supposed to come off with the rod, So what im asking is what is the best way to take 1 off without ripping the rubber that sits inside the rod...    A large flat screwdriver will help, use just the tip of the screwdriver, right up under the inner plastic bit. WD40 will really help too.
