Fake alarm

  1. #1
Hey, was thinking of fitting a LED light on the dash to make it look like i have an alarm.
Is it just as simple as drilling a spare button on the dash, then fitting a LED (e.g - CLICK) and then connecting it to the battery somehow??

    Cheers

u could drill a hole, or go down ur local scrapy and see if the saxo;s they have, have one with a hole for the light already, most mk2 saxo have an alarm, so if i was you just go down the scrapy as drillin a hole might not look as good as a pro one

I would have worded this thread differently....purely so that people on a public forum dont know you have a fake alarm lol

Only VTS's as standard. May have been an optional extra when the car was purchased from new, or an aftermarket alarm

Scrap yard sounds like a plan! I see loads of smashed Saxo's down there.....might reflect the level of driving skill of us all lol

Well, ive got one of those immobiliser key pad things, came standard. But thinking it wont stop people trying to steal stuff from in the car...so going for a cheap and cheerful option.

i did this on my brothers car. go to maplins and get one. connect the + and neg to the permanent live and switchable live on the back of the cd player (yellow wire and red wire) so that it turns off when you turn the key on and turns on when you take the key out. can also run an inline switch so that you can turn it off if your sitting in the car at night so that it doesnt annoy/blind the fuck out of you

    Thanks!! very helpful.
How easily will the LED circuit fit into a spare dash button?
  11. #11
well you can either buy a vts button with an led hole already in it or drill a simple hole to squeeze the led into

or pick up an aftermarket alarm cheap and fit it????

cool, and would that be again a case of wiring it to the back of the stereo? sounds like a much easier option imo

well most led's ive seen only have 2 legs , a pos and a neg. wire positive to permanent live and the negative to switched live, this way the led will go off when ignition is turned. not sure which is either yellow or red. has it somewhere if u search
