usual 8v problems and nocking noise. help!

   my furio is leaking oil at the head odviosly hg, plus it ticks over badly, losing power, and a nocking noise wen in gear nd just rolling no accelerater. and cooling systems all over the place. and loads of smoke out the exhuast. dnt no wot the problem is, but dont just wana buy several other things and not fix the fault. some ppl saying head gasket, piston rings or hydrolic lifters.

   it's got standard adjustable tappets, not hydro followers.
   
   Engine sounds like a mess tbh.
   
   What colour is the smoke?
   
   Where is the knocking noise coming from? Bottom of engine? Top of engine?

   yh it's down on power to, the noise is coming from the bottom of the engine. smoke is whitey grey.

   prob better of getting another engine tbh.
   
   It sound like it basically needs a full rebuild

   tht sounds bad. i can fix it at college garage have full equpment even dyno, wot du think is wrong wid it, is it the gearbox or the crankshaft?

   well I'd say it has a lack of compression so would say it needs atleast a new headgasket - white smoke is prob coolant.
   
   Bottom end knocking sounds like big end/main bearings.
   
   So head off, maybe worth rebuilding the head, new seals etc. Then you need to look at the bottom end - prob need the crankshaft out so easier to take the engine out.
   
   As you have the engine out may as well just put a good one back in

   yh il probs do change all seals and tht new head gasket cranshaft etc il check it all at college. i cant change the engine to vts becoz my area aint good for tht sort of thing, becoz we get vosa police and they no about these engine swaps, im jus gona wait another 11 mounths and get insured in a vts will hav 2 years no claims, but yeh i no it is very temting.

   i meant just put a good furio engine in it - would be cheaper?

   yh true. to be honest im not relly shore if the tapping is coming from the bottom end, it cud possible be coming from the top im nt shore becoz the car is rolling in gear i can only hear from the inside. wot wud be rong wid it if the nocking noise was coming from the top end of the engine?
