Important! : How To: Changing Bulbs

  1. #1
    Hi All,

Searched for a guide to change bulbs but could not find one so I decided to create one for all to share.

The bulbs I chose were Osram Night Breakers, this was a choice over the Philips Extreme Power, I chose the Osram because IMO 'Night Breaker' sounds better than 'Extreme Power' and the Osram's were cheaper, and the packaging for the Osram is better! That last reason is strange, I know but it does it for me.

    You will need:
1 x pair of H4 bulbs of your choice (High and Low beam)
1 x pair of H1 bulbs of your choice (Fog lights) guide to follow
1 x pair of 501 bulbs of your choice
1 x pair of latex gloves

    1. Pop the bonnet and locate the back of the head light unit and remove the main beam lead (H4 bulb). Pull the connecting lead towards you away from the bulb

    3. The next bit may be different to the year of your Saxo, mine is an 2002 VTS. You need to now disconnect the metal clip that holds the bulb in place. On the Mk2 the clip is held in place at the top of the bulb casing. To release it you need to push to top of the clip to your left. Once you have done that it will fall backwards.

    4. Remove your current bulb. Take note to which way the 3 prongs on the bulb are set so you know when replacing with the new bulb.

    5. Put in your new bulb and re-connect the bulb clip by pushing it up and to the right to lock it in place again. Now put the rubber cover back on to the bulb.

    6. To remove the 501 bulb (side light) hold the bulb connector and turn anti clockwise, whilst turning you should be able to pull out the casing with the bulb in it. Once the bulb is exposed hold the bulb and pull out. Replace with new bulb, put back into head light casing and turn clockwise. DONE!

Repeat the process for each side..

REMEMBER TO WHEN TOUCHING THE BULBS TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE GLOVES ON!!

I will upload the fog light guide soon.

    Cheers
