Rear Axle Replacement

  1. #1
Eight hours on this job so far!! Dropping the old one out is easy 4 bolts, disconnect the 2 brake lines and out she pops. Stripping it down to rebuild the new IM axle is another matter, 9 year old car I guess a bit of corrosion is expected. Actually the brakes came off and rebuilt ok, problem is the bearings (wheel bearings) and that plate that attaches to the stub axle with 4 torx screws, they're corroded to death at the heads so no chance and the bearings have fallen apart. Any ideas on where to get best deal on a pair of new rear bearing (hub) assemblies for a 2001 disc VTR and how to get those damn plates off.....
