VTS Crank Lock Hole??

  1. #1
I am really stuggling to find the lock hole for the fly wheel on the VTS. I have followed the guide but I just cannot find the hole. Can anyone help, there are holes all over the front of the block.

    Cheers

it'd just big enough for a 4mm allen to go through it - and faces the back of the flywheel, there's only a certain amount of space it could be, It's like 1mm away from a ridge on the front of the block

Cheers buddy, this is doing my head in, the last part I need before putting the belt on and checking if cams and what not are in properly. Could you just line the white marks up with the marks on the pulleys and crank and go from there? I would rather get it all locked though to make sure it's all done correctly.

lock everything off, then you know it's 100% right !

The little locking hole is next to a bigger hole that you can just about fit your finger in. There's a ledge on the front of the block about half way up, and on the edge of that ledge the hole lies lol

Absolutely, lock the engine up, although I have known a few people who have completed the job without locking (personally I would not risk it). The crank locking hole is difficult to see and I always use a piece of 'L' shaped 6mm rod to make it easier to fit and remove. Another thing to watch out for when putting the belt back on is to ensure that the arrows on the belt point in the correct direction (cam to crank and not via the tensioner). Good luck.
