clunking when setting off

    hi just wondering if anyone can help , my saxo when your in first or reverse and set of theres a clunking noise , iv had a look over it in work and the lower arms appear to be ok ? someone said they seen the wheel jurk backwards tho .

    also when you turn left or right round a corner theres a another knocking type noise .

    any help would be great as i dont know much about saxos yet ! cheers

    Might be your drums? The drums on my 106 did this.

    And the knocking is probably a driveshaft. Means you'll need a new one if it is.

    ahh come to think of it , it may well be i remember there was slight back and forth play in the shafts

    Best way to double check is to take yourself down a quiet estate where theres no traffic about (or a car park with no one about), and at low speed, do turns to the left and right, if you hear the knocking, but it doesn't do it on the straights, it will most probably be the driveshaft/s (if it does it to the left, it's most likely the left one and vice versa).

    Also, look inside at the inner arch for grease (the CV boot may have gone, and it will spit out grease). You will also see this on the inside of your wheel.

    Had this on the 106 too, damn thing ha.

    drive shaft mate. mine did this the other week. i had completely blown it to pieces lol

    Knocking when setting off; i had it slightly once, maybe one of the engine/gearbox mounts mate. I'd get it checked.
