engine management light on

   my engine management light came on yest but car is running fine..by not getting it seen to can it cos any damage to the car?? what kind of fault can it be + what price am i talking to get it looked at + fixed? its my first car so dont know much..any help appreciated folks

   any flatspots? mines doing the same and i'm hoping its just the lambda!
   
   diagnostics is some daft price, like £80 or something to plug it into a pc!

   f**k sake mate.. £80? then how much it costs to fix?? the thing is the car is running okay..my friend says it could be that 1 of the sensors is maybe just a bit damp + after a few days the light could end up going out..does wiring it to a pc identify the exact problem or could it be 1 of many faults???

   will bring up fault codes. easiest thing to do is reset it (take battery off for 20 minutes or something) and then it will only bring up new codes
