vtr brakes locking up too easily

when I brake hard at speed, my brakes seem to lock up very easily causing the rear end to squirm which gets pretty scary really.

Obviously when driving enthusiastically, you're not going to be gentle on the brakes, maybe its normal for the car to do this as it doesnt have abs, it doesnt feel as if it should be doing it though if that makes sense.

    what does everyone think?

rear brakes locking? If not, then just brake a bit gentler. Also depends on tyres and condition of road, ive had the car kick out before now as the rears arent as grippy!

    is the car lowered?
if so it's the brake bias valve. it means that if the car has loads of weight in it (which would naturally make it lower) and the brakes need to work harder. you have to adjust the valve if the car's lowered.

if not lowered, i have no idea lol

    Don't brake in a corner...

When travelling the cars weight is distributed evenly with the movement of the car, when you brake the weight and momentum goes straight to the front of the car causing the rear end to get lighter and slip out. Slow down drive cautiously.

I had my rear brake seize when hitting a roundabout at speed.
It spun me 180 and sat me bang in front of a on coming National Express coach.
I sat their staring at the driver who just swerved around me a fooked off.
He probably thought fucking boy racer!, but in driving for 22 years I have never had anything happen or as scary as this in my freaking life!
