Important! : immobilizer problems plz help.....

   hi...im having problems with my factory fitted immobilizer on my vtr...from when i open central locking and put key in ignition,i have a "flashing" key light up on my dashboard ...after taking key in and out of ignition several times the light on dash still flashes...till finally its stays lit for a second goes off enabling me to start the car....
   this is getting proper frustrating and any help would be really appreciated ...thanks chewy..

   may be a sensor or relay
   
   try and look for any blown fuses in both of the fuse boxes

   nah no fuses r gone....but dont think it would work if one was blown....still takes a few attempts of taking key in and out till the light on dashboard goes out...
   still would like to get this sorted as soon as poss till it gets to the point of me not being able to start the car...any more ideas would be gratefull...

   could it be an ignition barrel fault at all...?

   go to your local citreon dealer and buy a transponder aerial. basically if you look at the ignition barrel you can see a black ring around the metal barrel and it has the little notches on to show you what position the key is in. Basically it has a copper coil inside and after a matter of years it breaks down causing it to lose connection.
   
   So go to citreon order it about £18 i paid for mine a couple of weeks ago.
   
   All you have to do to change it is, if you get in the drivers footwell and look up you will see 2 screws in the steering cowling, undo them and drop it down. simply slide the old one off and put the new one on. 10 minute job.

   no worries mate. shoud deffo sort it for you mate. It's so annoying, was well happy when i found out what it was and sorted it.
