Vts drops revs and sometimes stalls.

   Hi just a quickie, when i first bought my car I had to get it through an MOT and when I got it back the bloke at the garage said they struggled to get it though the emissions test because when the engine was idleing the revs kept dropping from around 1k rpm to about 5k and every now and again cutting oout completly. This happened quite alot when I first started driving it but now the car seems to have settled but every now and again still does it , does anybody have any ideas ?

   clean the ivc mate the get covered in black smutty shit over time and ruin the idle speed

   My BMW 318 kept doing this.
   I replaced the alternator and the battery, and it fixed it.
   Don't know if this will help a Saxo though?

   My 1.1 used to do that and used to do it again if I didn't turn all electricals off, so I guess it was a baterry problem. Doesn't happen anymore though.
