Replacing standard discs and pads

  1. #1
Being new to the Saxo world I am unsure what size my standard discs are on my 1.1 Eastcost (late Phase1)

I've been checking out this thread here: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=139177 and it mentions the below:

Saxo base model 3 stud - Solid discs, 238mm diameter, rear drums

238mm, is that standard size? I want to order new discs and pads for this weekend just to get it a little more roadworthy before I tax it (I'll upgrade them at a later stage).

Being 3 stud does anyone know the best place to get these and any recommendations on types?

    Thanks from the Saxo noob!

Try Euro Car Parts or GSF

Mate, well done for using the search and using the guides without asking stupid questions!

3 stud brakes will always be shite.

Try to lessen the pain by getting some branded kit. At the end of the day discs are discs, but I'm a fan of Mintex for standard road-going pads, they do well-priced pad + disc kits. I'll just get you a link...

£36 for discs and pads - can't say no really. They should be a small improvement over standard - if you want any greater braking power out of standard kit you need to be hitting track-spec pads which won't offer much from cold and IMO not the best as road pads.

That's great, thank you so much! This car is turning into an utter bargain, that's so cheap

Dumbass newbie question - So AX parts can go straight onto my Eastcoast or was that an example? Awesome if so

front brakes on AX's and earlier saxo's are the same, until they went 4 stud over the whole range

a saxo is, in all intents and purposes, a better looking ax

    Aye, 3 stud 1.0/1.1 AX brakes = 3 stud 1.0/1.1 Saxo Brakes

Only reason I chose that listing was it was the cheapest one for you

I got a pair on ebay - there's no such thing as a performance drum anyway. eBay specials (£25) and mintex shoes are what I went for in the end. They do a job on the back but the front is what you need to worry most about.
