Performance brake fluid?

  1. #1
Next week I will be upgrading my front brakes to the GTi-6 setup with braided hoses.
I will be needing brake fluid (obviously).

But which is best? i.e. highest boiling point to prevent fade on a track day?

    Cheers

Most 5.1 fluids will be good mate. Personaly i like AP. CL would be half descent i imagine

I know most halfords own brand stuff is crap. But they do a 5.1 fluid. Think this will be ok?

I thought the fact that it's DOT 5.1 brings it into the 'performance' category!

I have a trade card too so bonus!

I don't want 'it will be fine' though. I'm doing the ring in the summer so I don't want to boil it. If I have to buy expensive fluid so be it.

    Cheers

The SAE rating (Dot 4, Dot 5.1 etc) is a minimum requirement for the fluid. You will find cheaper brands just meet these requirements whereas high performance brands far exceed the requirements.
The CL Brakes / Carbone Lorraine Fluid is a Dot 4 Brake fluid though it has one of the highest boiling points.
There are even better ones like Castrol SRF that is even higher but it costs £40 a litre!

Nurburgring is a whole different game mate. Will notice weaknesses in everything.

Go for the CL fluid or AP racing stuff. I like the AP personaly

dot 4 is fine, dot 5.1 is really for out and out performance and will need changing more regularly.

5.1 is not for out and out performance. 600 & 660 is more out and out performance.

    Why more regular?

They say more regulary but only means every 6months instead of every year.

I used the halfords 5.1 last season. Never had any problems with boiling etc.
