1.1 soon to be VTR

  1. #1
    Hey
i have a 1.1i at the moment and im looking to get a vtr engine, as they are easier to get hold of then vts's...ive been told alot of stuff from different people, but to be honnest with you i think none of them know what they talking about, so i thought i would ask my fellow saxo owners..so as much help from anyone and everyone would be apreciated.

ive been told that my 1.1 gearbox should slot straight on to the vtr engine, obviously a vtr gearbox would be suited but just to get the car moving a 1.1 gear box would do the job.....is this true or not?????

Also will the wiring loom in my 1.1 fit the vtr or would it be different???

and last of all...a friend of mine told me the bottom end of the vtr should slot straight into my car without any problems or hassle...is this possible...and if so is it advisable to do??? oh and will i need to change the fuel pipes along with the fuel tank?

thanks 4 reading...like i said as much help as possible would be apreciated..CHEERS LADS

If i was to get a vtr engine would i also need the transponder with the keys??? or could i use the imobiliser in the car at the mo?

i would say both engines are easy to get hold of mate, yes a 1.1 gearbox will fit the vtr but the ratios are different on the box.you will need everything from the donor car mate,i would say get a vts engine

you will need the loom, ecu, keys. transponder box and probably dash loom. everything that is bolted to the vtr engine.. inlet manifold and exhaust!. gearbox is o.k it will be quicker off the mark than a vtr but slower top end!.

i never got the dash loom mate,so i dont think you will need it

would i need a new fuel tank???
  11. #11
I dont really know the in's and out's but i doubt you'll need a replacement tank. They're all the same size anyway (45litres).

    Get it sprayed first!
