Ok thats not to bad..if my engine ever pops im going to replace it with a new one. I just wnated a rough price so i knew what to expect if this ever happens. It would mostly be the hourly rate at my garage that would hit me hard.

dont think it would be worth buying a brand new engine for a 51 plate car, there are plenty of good used low mileage engines out there that at most would cost you a couple hundred pounds plus fitting.what mileage is yours on mate?

just keep on top of the servicing mate and it should be ok,but if ever anything did go wrong you wouldn't have a problem finding a good second hand one.

I saw a 1.4 engine on ebay that was made from all new parts. They said it cost them in excess of 1500 to make.
The engine block brand new from citroen costs 700 quid!

Would be better to pick up a second hand engine. I got mine with 38k miles on it for 120 quid.
