Rear anti roll bar plates

  1. #1
Started to lower the back end today, but cant seem to budge the rear anti roll bar plates.I know on the passenger side there is the 13mm bolt and small torx screw to remove, and drivers side there is onlt the 13mm bolt and no torx screw. Is this correct,or are both plates supposed to have 2 bolts in each one.

That is right. Undo both the M8 bolts and you will then be able to rotate the ARB end plates round to get to the torsion bars. They will take a bit to rotate but it will move.

Not wishing to sound patronising, but if having issues with the ARB you may have alot of issues at later stages of the job

No not patonising at all bud, thats exactly what i thought when i first started it,also would the torion bars still budge if the arb was still connected.

Not is you want to do it the proper way no.
There's people dotted all around the place on here that do lowering perfectly and charge around £80, definatly worth it, some of them will happily show you how they do it as they go along so will help if you fancy a go at a later date.

You Tipton near Dudley? If so and want it lowered clicky my Sig and have a chat to Lee or Willsy, they are in Nuneaton and have done loads

Can anyone tell me how exactly these arb plates come off.I have removed the 13mm bolts either side and the plastic torx bolt on the passengers.Maybe a daft question, but is the arb one long bar,or is it two seperate bars for each side?

Need a quick one here folks.

its one long bar that runs through the rear beam to the end plates on either side. You'll need a slide hammer to get it out.

Does anyone live near bristol that could do this for me? I have removed the wheels and turned the ARB plate out the way. but i just cant budge the Torx bolt.

Im sure you can wind a bolt in that will push it out or with washers and will pull it out? Cannot remember, and you can leave the arb in to lower it as long as the plates are out the way

one of the bolts from the rear dampers goes in and just tighten it up till the bar pops out.

Then you need to make a puller from a M8 bolt and a socket and nut to pull the arb back into the end plate.

you can see a newbie has asked about it, saves making an new thread about the same thing

I had to use a cold chisel to get my torx bolts out.
