strange knocking noise :/

   Hellooo peeps ummm right where do i start... i am a bit worried when my 1.1 is on idle in neutrel there is a strange knocking niose it sounds like it is coming from the left of me (when sat in the drivers seat) but when i put the clutch in it stops and then when on idle again in neutrel it starts ... it is reallyyy bugging me can any one shed any light on this ??

   when mine was doin this it turned out to be my exhaust bracket had snapped. sounds stupid i know as i thought it was something to do with my clutch.
   
   try.... find your bite with the clutch, but no acceleration, but dont let the engine stall and see if you can hear it better then. if so i'd check your exhaust brackets.

   release bearing or bearings in the gearbox, but worth checking the exhaust bracket just incase but my moneys on gearbox release bearing

   I would suspect clutch release bearing by your description
