problem is mate i do a lot of DH (bike riding) over the summer, therefore i have a tow bar mounted bike rack on the rear so i still need some spring in the back

40-30 will look about spot on. I'm down 40-40 and the rear can look a tad too low on a full tank.

How heavy is your DH bike? I get my Turner (42lb) + a mate's bike and kit to the trails fine in my -40mm VTR so 30mm will be no trouble at all.

i have a norco, but it has full synchros and saint kit on it so it weighs (52.1lb) lol, problem is i normally have my mates stab on the back aswell, and tht has the similar weight to a house lol, and the rack itself weighs around 22 kilo's. so wanted to be safe on the rear, hence im only going 30mm on the rear

I'd have gone 40mm all around, but in ligh tof what you've said, 30mm rear and 40mm front will probably be best.

Although on the other hand, at the end of the day, it's only a centimetre.
