Fuel leak

  1. #1
Last night was driving home and at top of my street the fuel pump stopped making any noise and went all quiet then a smell of petrol appeared. Got outside my house and there was a trail of petrol and leaked outide my house but have still got some petrol left in the car so seems as it only leaks when cars running.
It seems to of come from the top as when looked under the car at back can see where its come from.

I was going to start at the hoses under the fuel pump covers to see any signs of where its leaked.

Seems to be a good place to start. The pipes sometimes become very brittle and have a tendency to crack arond that point.

I was thinking that as it seem seems to be getting petrol through to engine but pumps not making no sound and only leaking when its running but started it this morning before work and started 1st time and couldnt see any leaks and had its running about a minute.

It could be the pipe on the fuel return.
The little pipe that goes from the FPR back to the fuel pump.
edit: just seen it's 16V.. so not the same fuel return setup as the VTR..

It could still be the VTR fuel return setup then.
Have a look under the two covers
