Central locking going absolutly mental!

Left the car last night, no problems, nothing unusual.

Only to find it this morning going mental, the central locking opens then closes about 5-6 times then stops for about 15 seconds and then does it again and stops then does it again and then stops etc. etc. You can see the pattern forming.

However when you put the key in the drivers door and turn the key (when its not going mental) the central locking dosent work it just locks the drivers door.

Disconnected the battry while im at work. If anyone could shed light on this problem, please do!

I had this with my 03 1.1 Desire when I first bought it in Dec. It turned out to be water in the plug connector osf door hinge area, untwisted the plug, emptied water out, good squirt of WD40 and touch wood no problems since. Had the same symptons as you, exactly the same pattern, I was pulling the fuse in the end but you lost interior light and radio as well. Give it a go, hope it works.

I think your right mate, i suffer from water getting in there where the door hinges are because ive no inner arches at the front.

Do you have a sunroof? and does it leak? if so will be the RCL fob sensor in the roof.

Yes i do

but it dosent leak. (well im pretty sure it dosent)

nah you would know if it leaked, :-) thats good news anyway. If its not what the other guy said then check your central locking actuators, and therabouts. if jamming then will also cause it to go mental.

Is the plug hes talking about the rubber tube thingy in the middle of the door hinge area?

had a quick look before and tried twisting it nd shizz but it didnt seem like it wanted to go.

Its stopped going mental now, just wont lock, as soon as i lock it, it unlocks itself, youve gotta disconnect the battry and lock it then (which is irritating)

Im about to rip out my pubes in frustration.

What plug is this, any1?

Joe, I'm not technical but in my car open the door and the loom all passes through a connector, plastic screw connection, 4cms approx in size. Like I said in my car I just unscrewed it, shook it a bit and squirted in the wd40. I know of older cars that don't have the same arrangement but as yours is an 02 I would think it's the same as mine.
