Rumbling noise when clutch is up

  1. #1
Hi guys, My car makes a grinding/rumbling noise when my clutch is up, gets worse with revs in 1st/2nd but once you are moving you cant hear it. If you press the clutch in the noise goes away completely.

Any ideas? my mate said it could be a clutch bearing but i dont really know much about the clutch so I thuaght i would ask here.

Edit: I can also change gear fine, no crunching etc

Having a look on google now, is this a problem I need to deal with quickly, will it get worse etc?

It'll most likely get worse, mine went like that.., you'll know when you pull up at the lights and everyone starts looking at you

Then you'll need a new clutch release bearing..may as well do the whole thing whilst it's apart.

Got a local garage to do mine, was about £250 all in, made a big difference, clutch like a new car now.

It's the release bearing. What sort of mileage is on the clutch?

probably release bearing, but could also be input shaft bearing

Doesnt the release bearing make a noise when the pedal is pressed???

I thought if it made a noise when the pedal is released it was worn input shaft bearings??
